We’re even BIGGER than We Thought…

Silver Star is BC’s 3rd largest ski area

Updated land surveys for Silver Star Mountain Resort calculate the resort’s skiable terrain at 3,269 acres (1,323 hectares), making it the third largest ski area in British Columbia.

Despite its size however, Silver Star has remained one of BC’s “secrets stashes” and a local’s favourite. This vast ski area includes incredibly diverse terrain, with consistently deep champagne powder snow, 128 runs and an entire 1,900 acre section of black and double black diamond runs.

It’s no surprise that Okanagan locals have continued to vote Silver Star the #1 Ski Resort in the Okanagan year after year.

Voted #1 Family Resort & #1 Ski Resort in the Okanagan (AGAIN)

Silver Star Mountain Resort takes another top prize

Okanagan Life Magazine asked the question and locals throughout the Okanagan answered – Silver Star Mountain Resort was their favorite place to bring their families. And it’s no wonder why…with the introduction of Canada’s first all-inclusive lift ticket and season pass in 2012/13, one affordable price now included unlimited skiing, snowboarding, tubing, ice-skating, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. But there’s more to it than being just an affordable winter playground.

Silver Star is also known around the world for its safe, friendly village atmosphere. Locals quickly adopt new visitors and make them feel welcome. A variety of ski improvement and social programs have been designed to offer children a place to meet new friends, while playing on the slopes. And still there’s more to it.

The terrain at Silver Star is progressive, letting families learn together while still offering the largest selection of advanced ski terrain in the region. Boredom is a word seldom used here.

But perhaps the most important thing Silver Star Mountain Resort offers, is a chance for families to re-connect and discover what makes Canadian winter special. Whether it’s skating on a real mountain pond, snowshoeing through a forest of giant Christmas trees, or simply enjoying a hot chocolate by an outdoor family, these are experiences that will stay with you and your children for life.

Canada’s Largest Daily Groomed Cross-Country Trail Network Expands
New trails and infrastructure added to Silver Star’s award winning Nordic facilities

The expansion will also include a new warming hut at the gateway to the Alder Point trails.

Double Diamond Adds Montana Robotic Ski Tuner
Cutting edge robotic technology takes Double Diamond Service Centre into the future

Double Diamond Repairs adds an impressive new line-up of technology this season with a state-of-the-art Board & Ski Tuner, Waxing Machine and Binding Calibrator. The new technology will not only improve the precision tuning options offered at our ski and board shop, but will also significantly speed up wait times for equipment. Drop it off before lunch and be ready to ride shortly after.

The new technology represents a major investment not only in the repair shop, but in the customer service and experience we can offer to our guests.

Over $200,000 will be spent to update the facility and purchase the latest technology in robotic ski tuning equipment from Montana. With expanded square footage and some of the best technology available today, the Double Diamond Service Centre will become the premier service location in the region.

Robotic tuning offers the upmost in quality, speed and consistency compared to standard machines or hand-wax finishes.

The patented “Crystal Glide Finish” is renowned worldwide as a sign for outstanding quality in ski and board service and the Montana Challenge increases the speed at which an accurate and high quality tune is achieved, getting our guests back out onto the slopes in less time.

Wax Future will provide the latest race proven waxing technology for better gliding and protection properties. The device uses an infrared heating element that travels along a track over the length of a ski or board base, melting the wax as it goes. The infrared heat penetrates deeply into the base, which allows the wax to flow farther than a traditional wax iron.

This in turn leads to a longer lasting wax with superior glide. The optimized wax application provides higher wax penetration and absorption for long lasting sliding capacity on ski bases.

Finally, the Montana Jetbond binding calibrator tests releasable ski bindings to ensure they are releasing at the correct pressure for the tension setting providing improved guests safety and peace of mind.
