Silver Star - Western Gem

Silver Star is truly a western gem. It offers excellent downhill for the Alpine enthusiast but it is the uniqueness of its nordic trail system that keeps bringing us back. the past two years for month long stays. My husband does both alpine and nordic but, since I do not downhill ski,I can still get the "top of the mountain" experience. The nordic partner program is excellemt as it gives guests someone with whom to ski and explore the mountain trails safely. Silver Star should be proud of its nordic program and use it as a marketing tool for the mountain. I continue to sing its praises back east (Nova Scotia and Maine). The compact village and friendliness of everyone we have encountered only adds to the positive experience of a trip to "our mountain."

poem

People keep on coming back to Silver Star. I think it is because of the enchanting stashes and consistently good snow, the people who work and play there and the ease with which everything is organized.

I have been to a lot of resorts and Silver Star is right up there. It seems small at first and then you realize you've been there two weeks and there are a whole bunch of runs you've meant to do and haven't done - let alone all the other activities on offer.

The kids have a ball. I think the ski school is as good as you'll find anywhere - for kids or adults.

As a conference organizer, I find the conference facilities are excellent and I am always impressed by the standard of catering. Gold Star from me!

I've been coming to Silver Star since I was five years old. It is a fabulous resort catering for people with a huge range of skiing and boarding abilities and is therefore great for families.

Aside from loving Silver Star mountain, I also love the interschool’s Canada program. There is always a great bunch of kids and excellent coaches who pay attention to every detail of your skiing or riding. FROM JO KATZ

BEATON FAMILY - Silver Star

What's not to love?

Dry silky powder, cruisey groomed to steep and deep double blacks,

awesome terrain parks (where our kids love to hang),

a family friendly winter wonderland,

intimate, kiddie-safe, it has it all,

that's why we'll be back!

Fun for the Whole Family

Harriette – “I Loved skiing at Silver Star because it was sunny everyday and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. The snow was so fresh and it made squeaky sounds under my boots and skis” Theodore –“I really loved the Ski School as it was really cool because you make friends and have lots of hot chocolates. There was big jumps and I loved falling over in the soft snow. I loved taking Mum and Dad down the Peanut trail and as well Eldorado and Aunt Gladys” Maggie Mae – “I loved the Peanut Trail and Criss Cross, however my favourite thing about Silver Star was the Lolly Shop, and the Movie Theatre and the Pool Table at the Snowbird. I also really loved the Big Hills and all the Squeaky fresh snow and my new skis from the rental shop and Santa”

“Ten year old Alex found Silver Star and Interschools Program very welcoming and friendly.
The resort is small enough to be personal and all amenities handy and never crowded.
But having such a huge variety of runs and terrain and fantastic snow.
Alex 10 loved the Interschool’s Program. The instructors made the skiing so much fun as they got to try all terrains, even Double Black runs and parks and race training.
He made so many friends both on and off the slopes as the social program was also great especially the snow tubing, ice skating and ice hockey matches.
I enjoyed the Parents Academy. The level of instruction was first rate  with only 6 per group, we got to cover so much terrain.
There was never a shortage of parents to have a ski with after lunch, and of course evenings to have drinks and dinner with.
The On Mountain advise from Interschool’s Staff Rob, Marg and Steve was great.
Finding accommodation, ski guiding, places to eat, social activities for both children and parents was all organised very professionally.
They all love their work at Silver Star, and Alex and I can see why!
We will definitely return next year.

Silver Star is a sensational family skiing destination!
Everywhere you go the people are friendly and it’s not a put on. From the mountain staff to the waiters, instructors and the shuttle drivers, all are extremely friendly.
Most professional ski school we have encountered catering to all levels and ages. Great programs for adults and kids. Lachy is a boarder and had a ball in the Telus park
Blown away by the quality of the snow and the depth of terrain on offer and 2012 was only a moderate season. The powder was as good as anywhere I’ve skied in the world. Surprisingly good visibility for nearly all of our stay. The Putnam Creek area is huge with an extensive range of terrain for all skiing and boarding ability.
All restaurants are to a high standard and great value for money. It’s hard to walk past Bugaboo’s at lunchtime without being drawn in!!
We have already booked for next year.
Voted best family mountain on earth by us!
