The first flakes of snow have fallen over Silver Star yesterday afternoon and overnight, leaving a soft white blanket of anticipation for the upcoming winter season.
Close to 5cm settled over the resort in the afternoon and evening of September 10th cooling the ground and teasing those anxious for winter to arrive.
"It's not unusual for snow to fall and settle for a day or two in September" comments Michael Sherwood, General manager for the resort "although it's always nice to know mother nature is on track for the change in seasons" he continued.
The snow fall is timely as Silver Star sets out across the region for their annual season pass sale, and this year having introduced the my1pass meaning all alpine season passes will now include FREE upgrades for unlimited tubing, skating, Nordic and snowshoeing they could be in for a busy few months.
Silver Star is open for a bonus two days of mountain biking and hiking this weekend and the snow will surely be melted by then. "The snow is great, it will only improve conditions on the trails, keeping them nice and tacky for what's sure to be a busy weekend" comments Ian Galbraith, summer business manager for the resort.
