Winter Carnival Snow Sculpture Competition

Tue, 06/02/2007 - 12:00 am

Silver Star would like to thank all of the participants of the Snow Scuplture Competition held over the weekend as part of the 47th Annual Vernon Winter Carnival.
All teams did a spectacular job bringing the the Silver Star village alive with this years theme "Carnival on Broadway” which lent itself well to the creation of some spectacular sculptures.

Congratulations to first place winners Snow FX from Vancouver, for their creation, "Metamorphosis". Sculptures, Bruce Waugh, Rodger Chaisson, and Brett Stocker will be heading to Quebec for the Canadian Snow Sculpting Championship. Good Luck!

Second place, and also People's Choice winner went to Snowblind from Enderby for their creation "Guardian of the Deep". Congratulations to Colin Brooks, Terry Price, and Rob Bemister for their hard work.

Third place was grabbed by The Team, from Salmon Arm for their sculpture "Masks of Broadway". Congratulations to Joyce Marchant, Kurt Hafso, and Val Ashley for their efforts.

Congratulations and thanks go out to all the other teams for participating in this exciting annual event.

Unfortunately , due to unseasonably mild temperatures and with guest safety always our priority, we have had to remove this year's Vernon Winter Carnival Snow Sculptures from the village. We apologize but Mother Nature sometimes calls the shots.
