White Christmas! Powderful Big White, Silver Star Resorts have the MOST SNOW of any destination resort in Alberta, BC, and the Pacific Northwest!

Kelowna, BC – As Canadians and Americans get ready for their Christmas vacation,
“where’s the snow?” is a question that many skiers and snowboarders are asking. Well, British Columbia’s Okanagan is THE place to ski and ride. With a 160 cm base at Big White and a 148 cm base at Silver Star, – that’s FIVE FEET – both mountains will most certainly have a “White Christmas.”

“We have been blessed with more natural snowfall early this year than some of the other resorts in the region,” commented Michael J. Ballingall, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Big White and Silver Star. “Our summer trail maintenance program and investment in new grooming machines is really paying off. Remember that Mother Nature makes the freshest powder, and that’s where all of our snow comes from! We’d like all of our friends in the media to know that the ski business is booming in the Okanagan.”

While the phones have been ringing off the hook at both Silver Star Holidays and Big White Central Reservations, there are still attractively-priced two and three-night packages available during the “prime” dates between December 26 and January 2.

Saturday, December 18 marks the Grand Opening of TELUS Park, a state-of-the-art ski and snowboard park that will truly put Big White on the map when it comes to hosting major snowboard and New School skiing slopestyle competitions. TELUS Park contains a 17-foot high Super Pipe, 12-foot high half-pipe, rail park/terrain garden, a skier/boarder cross course, and recreational racing gates serviced by its own lift and lighted for night-time sessions. A full line-up of exciting concerts and contest giveaways are scheduled.

Up at Silver Star, they’re turning on the lights for night skiing starting on Friday, December 17 and taking delivery of their Bombardier BR 400 grooming machine. This state-of-the-art machine can be winched to smoothen and buff even steep, moguled expert slopes! Both resorts have a full calendar of special events to commemorate this very special time of year. So grab those skis and board and come on up!
