Winter has arrived! At 8:30 this morning, Silver Star Mountain Resort, Canada’s favourite Nordic destination, welcomed many enthusiastic local cross-country skiers and top international racers with the opening of the cross-country trail network.
There are 25 kilometres of perfectly groomed and double-trackset trails open for all levels of Nordic enthusiasts ranging from gentle winding beginner early-season tracks to help you prepare and warm-up for the season, to the more challenging terrain for more advanced skiers.
As Glenn Bond, Silver Star’s Nordic Manager points out, “these are excellent midwinter conditions – it’s minus five right now, I’m using Start Red wax, and the trails are double track-set. The snow feels absolutely fantastic!”
Favourite trails such as Paradise, Aqueduct, and Comin’ ‘Round the Mountain, Mother Nature’s bounty has been augmented by an aggressive summer grooming program that has greatly enhanced the early-season conditions. More trails will be added as the snow continues to pile up.
Glenn reports that the word is definitely getting out that Silver Star is open for Nordic – “a vanload of skiers came over from Vancouver Island yesterday, and we had some skiers just arrive from Quebec. Right now, they’re enjoying the best early-season Nordic conditions in North America!”
Australia’s Esther Bottomley couldn’t be happier! "This is my first trip to Canada and I chose Silver Star because I’d heard they have reliable early season snow, and it’s true!"
If you’re a Nordic season pass holder at Big White Ski Resort, your trail pass is ‘good’ at Silver Star Mountain Resort for this weekend as well.
