Summer Grooming; A Tradition at Silver Star Continues

Tue, 28/09/2004 - 11:00 pm

Vernon, BC: With the snow season fast approaching, the alpine runs at Silver Star Mountain Resort are quickly being 'summer groomed' to perfection.

The 20-year-long tradition continues as our dedicated Trail Maintenance Teams spend countless hours mowing and clearing the runs of rocks & debris. The summer grooming program allows us to open up more runs earlier in the season with safer skiing and riding conditions on less amount of snow. Summer grooming also prepares the beginner and intermediate runs for our Bombardier Snow Cats to lay down the luscious layers of corduroy once the snow arrives.

"With the tremendous summer grooming program at Silver Star, the Resort can offer some of the best early season skiing found anywhere in North America," commented Director of Sales, Jim Loyd. "We were skiing black diamond runs in November last season."

While we wait for the snow to arrive, our team has also been busy building six of the new rails for the expanded progressive terrain park, the Skier/Boarder-Cross course has been marked out and Norman Kreutz, Director of Skiing at Silver Star notes that the new Race Centre development is well underway.

Silver Star’s Bombardier grooming machines are operated by Canada’s number one grooming team. Silver Star's award-winning grooming team helped pioneer winch-grooming of black diamond runs in Putnam Creek as well as the renowned blue and green trail system. A 2005 Bombardier BR-350 Sherpa Winch Cat has already been purchased and will be added to the current fleet of groomers; bringing the total to seven cats in the grooming fleet at Silver Star.
