The wait is OVER! With weekend storms adding significantly to the already impressive early season snowpack, Silver Star Mountain Resort opens today for the 2005-2006 ski season at 8:30am.
"The Valley's skiers are rarin' to go, and we're thrilled to announce this early opening of the alpine trails on 100% natural snow," commented Michael Sherwood, General Manager, Silver Star Mountain Resort. "We are even offering packages including Ski Free which can be found by clicking on the Ski Free icon on the homepage."
In celebration of an early opening, this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (November 18 - 20), Silver Star Mountain Resort will be offering single day lift tickets at 50% off, ski and snowboard group lessons at the Snowsport School at 50% off and ski and snowboard rentals at 50% off. Prices are scheduled to change on Monday, November 21.
As of 6:00am on Friday, November 18, Silver Star is reporting a snow base of 78 centimetres (30 inches), with temperatures well below freezing.
The Environment Canada forecast calls for below-freezing temperatures and snow flurries for the next five days. Guests are reminded that these are early-season conditions – hidden and unmarked obstacles may be present. Ski safely, and please do not wander off ungroomed runs.
Silver Star Mountain Resort’s Nordic Centre is open and currently boasts the best Nordic conditions in North America, with over sixty kilometres of trails now open to the public! Two major events that you’ll want to mark on your calendar are the Annual Turkey Trot Loppet on November 26, and the Silver Star Night Sprints Dash for Cash on December 6 which will feature Olympic and World Cup athletes.
