Bell 2005 Canadian Series Freestyle Skiing Event
The Vancouver Freestyle Ski Club is pleased to announce it will be hosting the Bell 2005 Canadian Series Freestyle Skiing Event at Silver Star Mountain, January 27-30, 2005.
This will be a national level competition for the National Development Team and Provincial Teams from across Canada. Competitors from British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and some visiting athletes from Australia will be training January 27 & 28 on ‘The Face’ under the Summit Chair Lift at Silver Star. These high performance mogul skiers, both male and female, will compete on Saturday January 29 in Single Moguls and again on Sunday January 30 in the ever-exciting, unpredictable Dual Mogul Event. This will be an excellent photo and video opportunity for some really amazing mogul skiing and jumping. Some of Canada’s best mogul skiing prospects will be there including some Olympic hopefuls who will be Going Big before Going Home!
The Canadian Series provides the next generation of athletes the opportunity to further develop their skills and fulfill their dreams of one day joining the National Team and competing for Canada at the World Cup and Olympic level. The Canadian Freestyle Ski Team, with disciplines in moguls, aerials, skiercross and halfpipe won the Nations Cup on the FIS World Cup Tour in 2004.
Due to inclement weather on the coast, the Organizing Committee moved the event from Cypress Mountain where the site of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games for Freestyle Skiing will be built over the next several years. Many thanks to Silver Star Mountain and the Silver Star Freestyle Ski Club for providing their venue for the event next weekend.
