Silver Star Mountain Resort and Operation Food Drive go into action again Saturday November 19th for the third straight year!

16 volunteers from the team at Silver Star will be on location around Vernon at Wal-Mart, the Village Green Centre main entrance, the Superstore and Safeway at Vernon Square Mall. The team will be there from 10am to 4pm selling discounted opening weekend day tickets to Silver Star for just $20. Purchases must be made in cash only and 100% of the proceeds go to the Salvation Army Food Bank. “It’s a tough time of year for a lot of families,” says Silver Star General Manager Michael Sherwood “we are excited about the opportunity to give something back to the community again and the Food Bank helps so many people.” The resort volunteers will also have food hampers on site to collect non-perishable food items for the Food Bank.

Last year the group raised more than $6000 and hope to surpass that this year. “We’ve had great support from the Morning Star and both Sun and Kiss FM,” says Resort Services Manager Robin Baycroft “I really hope we’ll see a great turnout and that we can get to $10,000 this year.” The lift tickets are $20 for all age groups, there is no limit to the number purchased, and give skiers and snowboarders access to the entire lift network that will be open for the American Thanksgiving long weekend (Nov 24 – 27).
