What is Interschools Canada?

On-Snow Training Interschools Canada's on-snow training program at Silver Star Mountain Resort, BC Canada, is the first training program specifically designed to meet the needs of children competing in Interschool Snowsports competitions throughout Australia.

The program was designed by the School SnowSports Development Foundation (SSDF), the organisers of Interschool events around Australia. The goal of Interschools Canada is to provide memorable family snow holidays with quality coaching. .

What is different to other Programs?

  • Coaching: All coaches are hand picked and possess the qualifications, skills and knowledge of the Australian Interschool Snowsports systems that’s required in order to maximise improvement and ensure a fun experience.
  • Endorsement: Interschools Canada is the official overseas family snow holiday and training program of SSDF.
  • Facilities: Interschools Canada has custom built training courses and facilities at Silver Star. These courses are built to replicate as close as possible Australian Interschools courses (but with more snow)!

Each program offers coaching in technique improvement as well as specialized race training in alpine, skier-cross, moguls, snowboard and snowboard-cross. Participants also have the opportunity to develop their freeride skills in the Rockstar park.

Each program runs for in blocks of 5 day sessions Monday to Friday, choose as many weeks of the program as you wish.Participants can book to do 1, 2 or 3 of the weekly 5 day sessions.

Ski Improvement Programs are also offered to parents of children involved with Interschools Canada and are extremely popular with both Mums and Dads. Each of the fun filled and exciting programs ends with races for both participants and parents.

  • Session 1: Monday 6th of January - Friday 10th January
  • Session 2: Monday 13th of January - Friday 17th January
  • Session 3: Monday 20th of January - Friday 24th Janaury

Sample Training Schedule

Monday

  • 8:45am: Meet outside the Snowsports School in the Silver Star Village
  • 9:00am: Groups depart the meeting area and completes warm up
  • On Snow: Discipline Specific Training
  • 12:00pm - 1:00pm: Lunch with families or School group
  • 1:00pm - 3:00pm: Afternoon on-snow session
  • 3.00pm - 3.30pm: Stretching and session review (video and/or verbal review)

Tuesday to Thursday

  • 8:55am: Meet at the Snowsports School in either Big White or Silver Star Villages
  • 9:00am: Groups depart the meeting area and completes warm up
  • On Snow - Ski Improvement/Discipline Specific Training - Alpine Racing GS
  • 12:00pm: Lunch (Families on their own each day for lunch)
  • 1:00pm: Afternoon session start
  • On Snow - Continuation of Ski Improvement / Discipline Specific Training - Alpine Racing GS
  • 3.00pm - 3.30pm: Stretching and session review (video and/or verbal review)

Friday

  • 8:55am: Meet outside the Snowsports School in the Silver Star Village
  • 9:00am: Groups depart the meeting area and completes warm up
  • On Snow - The Morning session is the weekly GS Ski and Snowboard race. This also includes the Parents race
  • 12:00pm: Lunch (Families and schools on their own each day for lunch)
  • 1:00pm: Afternoon on snow session reviewing the tuition of the week.
  • 3:00pm: Finish and presentations in the Village centre.

To start your holiday off, you are invited to attend an exclusive Interschools Canada Welcome Reception. Complete with canapes and refreshments, this reception is a great opportunity to learn more about what’s on offer at your resort, learn more about the programs, as well as to meet the coaches and fellow participants.

Resort Hosts

Australian Interschools staff will be your very own Resort Hosts on the ground in Silver Star. From the time you arrive at until the time you leave, an Interschools Canada Host will be on hand to answer any questions and to take care of all the little things that really make an unforgettable holiday.

Exclusive Resort Discounts and VIP Card

As participants of the Interschools Canada program you will receive an exclusive VIP Card offering a variety of resort discounts including equipment and clotingh, food and beverage. (a must have item)

Interschools Canada Office

Located in Silver Star, the Interschool Canada office will be open daily to offer assistance and a range of services to maximise your holiday experience while in Canada. Some of the services offered include assistance with in resort and off mountain bookings, baggage services for lost luggage equipment rentals. Assistance in organising parent, private or group instruction, organising rental cars and off mountain or inter mountain transfers. Interschools Canada staff are there for you to make your holiday in Silver Star hassle free.

Specifically Designed On-Snow Training

These programs have been designed to specifically meet the needs of Australian Interschool athletes. With qualified and experienced coaches who understand Interschools requirements combined with training facilities that replicate Australian Interschool courses, you’ll be sure to have the edge at the 2011 Australian Interschool events.

Resort Tours

Get the locals tour of the resort when you first arrive with a dedicated Interschools Canada resort snow host. You'll be escorted by the hosts as you explore the best runs and discover the hidden powder stashes with your dedicated guide.

Just what you need after a long flight - packed with all the information you need to help get your holiday off to a great start.

Wednesday Après Drinks

Complimentary Wine and Nibbles Wednesdays: Join other Interschools Canada parents for some Après drinks and nibbles.

Wednesday Kids Skating

While the parents are enjoying the Wine and Nibbles the kids are invited to join the FREE ice skating session over on the natural outdoor pond. The group will be escorted over from the village and returned back to the village after the session

Interschools Canada Parent Ski Academy 2014

Silver Star SnowSport School would like to offer all parents of Interschools Canada 2014 athletes a special program to sharpen their own skills while staying here at Silver Star Ski Resort.

Interschools Parents Academy Dates

Session One:             January 6 - 9, 2014
Session Two:            January 13 - 16, 2014
Session Three:          January 20 - 23, 2014

Interschools Canada Parents Ski Improvement Academy

4 x Full Days Program:              $565.00 + GST
4 x Morning Program:                $320.00 + GST

The Parents Ski Improvement Academy guarantees small groups (Maximum 6 people per group, minimum of 3 people per group are needed for the program to run) and includes:

  • All on snow instruction
  • Video Review
  • Equipment Analysis
  • Ski Tuning Seminar
  • Boot fitting Seminar

Academy Program Times

Program Times are 9:15am - 12:00 noon and 1:00pm - 3:00pm
