Fédération Internationale des Patrouilles de Ski (FIPS) is an international organization representing ski patrol and associated ski safety bodies from 18 different nations. FIPS is the world forum for patrollers to meet, exchange ideas and compare the latest patrol techniques on a regular basis. (http://www.fips-skipatrol.org )
FIPS members normally gather every two years for a congress at a ski resort in one of the member countries. Congresses have been held in Canada, USA, Chile, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Sweden, Scotland and France.
The Canadian Ski Patrol has been chosen to host the 19th Congress at Silver Star Mountain Resort, British Columbia from March 29 to April 5, 2014. Information on this event is provided below.

The 19th Congress will be held at the beautiful Silver Star Mountain Resort, British Columbia, Canada. The resort is located at the north end of the Okanagan Valley, approximately 20 minutes by car from the city of Vernon.
Silver Star is in the Pacific Time Zone (Coordinated Universal Time minus 8 hours).
Check-in is on Saturday, March 29th, check-out is on Saturday, April 5th. The FIPS program will commence Sunday morning and end Friday night.
The congress package is a fixed cost which ranges from $1,050 to $1,500 per attendee depending on accommodation selection. The package includes:

Four accommodation options are offered: standard or upgraded room with double or single occupancy. All accommodation is located very close to meal and conference venues. The option you select on the registration form will determine the cost of your congress package. All prices are in Canadian dollars.
You may arrange to increase the length of stay at Silver Star Mountain Resort at your own expense by contacting the Silver Star Mountain Resort Sales Manager. Contact information is provided at the end of this Information Sheet.

On the registration form, please select either regular or vegetarian meals and specify any food allergies.
The nearest airport is Kelowna International Airport (http://www.kelownaairport.com/index.htm). The airport is approximately a one hour drive from Silver Star. By air, Kelowna airport (YLW) is approximately one hour west of Calgary and one hour east of Vancouver.
Transportation from Kelowna International Airport to Silver Star Mountain Resort will be provided if you include your flight information on the registration form and arrive on March 29, 2014. Return transportation to the airport will be provided if you depart Silver Star Mountain Resort on April 5, 2014.
You may arrange airport transfers outside the congress dates at your own expense by contacting the Silver Star Mountain Resort Sales Manager.
Payment in full in Canadian dollars must be included with the registration form.
The deadline for registration is November 30, 2013. Registrations received by Silver Star Mountain Resort on or December 1, 2013 will only be accepted if space is available.
For cancellations received at Silver Star Mountain Resort on or before February 28, 2014, the full amount will be refunded.
There will be no refund for cancellations received at Silver Star Mountain Resort on or after March 1, 2014.
